The Learning Platform (LP, for short) has come a long way since it was first created back in July of 2009. Four business development courses have been added along with a wiki and various other bells and whistles. There’s a lot more left to create, but there’s finally “enough there” that the real beta testing can begin.
Four netbook computers have now been sent to Tanzania where entrepreneurs will soon be using them to log on, further develop their business plans and provide valuable feedback on the LP interface.
E+Co’s Imanuel Muro and Betty Ngoye, both stationed in Tanzania, are the first team actively engaged in pioneering this long distance experiment with enterprise development service provision. Good luck, guys!
The wider E+Co community will be supporting them to the extent possible to help ease the transition and iron out any rough spots. This community includes former CEO, Philip LaRocco, and Lily Tran, a talented new intern who has yet to even start her stint in Dar es Salaam, and everyone in between.
A million and one thanks are due to a terrific team from Net Impact Service Corps – Jonathan Greenberg, Mike Flatow, Nelson Yip and Venu Bolisetty – for putting together a wider Invisible Schoolhouse strategy document this fall. (The LP is the energy corner of the broader Invisible Schoolhouse project, Copyright P. LaRocco, 2010).
The Net Impact group devised a strategy for sprucing up the website, marketing it effectively, and chasing after strategic partnerships (in case you’re wondering, we need hardware, hackers, content development partners, educational street cred and, oh yeah, money). We just submitted our next Net Impact proposal to follow up on their work – keeping our fingers crossed…
Last week, the LP got a paint job (thank you Patrick Malley from New School Learning) in preparation for its test drive. Over the coming months, we’ll be keeping you posted on how it handles on the road — bumps, curves and all.
If you want to get involved in helping make the LP better, you can volunteer your time as a hacker, business mentor, graphic designer, researcher or copy editor. Email meredith.elliott@eandco.net for more information.
Do we address you as Dean or Headmistress Jennye? Wonderful update blog and wonderful progress.
Jennye, we’re wondering is the LP site ready for public consumption?
